Hoshikin Koi farm was founded over 70years ago by Kinsaku Hoshino and is located in Ojiya City, Niigata. It is currently operated by second and third generation farmers, Katsushige Hoshino and Katsuyuki Hoshino. They breed mainly the Kohaku and Showa varieties that are known for growing large. Hoshikin is renowned for producing a variety of high quality Kohaku including: Nidan Kohaku (2 step), Sandan (3 step) Kohaku and Inazuma (lightning bolt) Kohaku. Hoshikin Koi Farm became famous by winning the Grand Champion at Japan’s most important koi show with a stunning kohaku.
