It feels great to be present at the place where special moments within the Koi history occur. Actually, history was not made this time, but I would rather name it repetition of history. Anyway, it feels really special to be part of the Koi society that makes it able to have these kinds of experiences. This All Japan Show I was able to interview on of the main actors, actually it is the owner of the Grand Champion, named Hartono Soekwanto from Indonesia.
The main actor is actually a 9 years old and 98 centimeter long Kohaku, bred by Sakai Fish Farm from Hiroshima. Not a long time ago she won the ‘Grand Slam’, winning the Grand Champion title on the 40th Rinyukai Koi Show in 2009, the 47th Zen Nippon Airinkai (ZNA) Koi Show and the 42th All Japan Combined Nishikigoi Show in 2011. And now, in 2013, this magnificent Kohaku that formerly listened to the name M Legend, expands her list of records with another Grand Champion title on the 44th edition of the All Japan Combined Nishikigoi Show. It makes it even more incredible when you know that she also became mother of 700.000 offspring in the Spring of 2012 and thereby became the parent fish that provided the most offspring so far for a Kohaku within Sakai Fish Farm. She repeated history by matching the performance of Loran, the Ogawa Fish Farm bred Kohaku that won the All Japan Combined Nishikigoi Show in 1990 and 1992 (22th and 24th edition of the show). In all 44 editions of this show, only two Koi have been able to win twice. The question now is: where will it stop?! What can we expect more of her? Will this 9 year old and 98 cm long Sakai Fish Farm Kohaku, now named Mu Lan, win for a third time in 2015?
