Discovering the Matsunosuke bloodline – part 1

Hydrosphere Water Gardens > Blog - Koi Pond News, Videos & Articles > Discovering the Matsunosuke bloodline – part 1
This entry is part 1 of 1 in the series Discovering the Matsunosuke bloodline

DSC_0704 - Version 2 Last February I went to visit the Isawa Nishikigoi Center, better known as the Koi Farm of Toshio Sakai. His son, Toshikatsu (or Toshi) Sakai introduced me to his vision of their famous Matsunosuke bloodline. In this first part of the video interview he shows it to me with a nice example in flesh.

I have been shown multiple Sanke (“what else” I hear you say) that all had their own typical characteristics that makes this Matsunosuke bloodline so interesting. What is the first thing that strikes your eye when you look at the picture below?

Matsunosuke Sanke – Yonsai and 68 cm.

What a great looking orange Beni (red) isn’t it? It almost looks as its the natural color of this carp, as it is so thick and powerful. And if you look one picture further, what do you see then (besides Toshi Sakai of course)?

Toshi with his pride.

The large and shiny Ginrin on the scales, isn’t it? You can see it even better in the thumbnail below.

Check out the first part of Toshi’s (short; he will get more talkative in the following videos) explanation of this Isawa Nishikigoi Center Matsunosuke Sanke:
