With the growing influence of Asian Koi hobbyists on the main Koi shows in Japan, it probably did not surprise the worldwide Koi scene that last show season was dominated by hobbyists from Indonesia. Felix Denanta won the ZNA show, Yohanes Jusuf won the Rinyukai show and only two months ago won Hartono Soekwanto the All Japan Koi Show (all with Kohaku from SFF). How surprising was it that Elna Koi won the All Japan Young Koi Show! And also French Koi dealer l’Oasis, part of the Couleurs de Niigata group, won a big award!
And what an award! The Best in Variety Asagi, a Kataoka / Oya Koi Farm bred Asagi, looks like a perfect Asagi! A flawless scale pattern, a shiny and bright skin in combination with a perfect fluent body line and symmetric Motoaka (red in the pectoral fins) makes it a superb Asagi for me! Congratulations l’Oasis and the Couleurs de Niigata group!
