Feed Your Fish a Spring and Fall Fish Food
Spring and Fall Fish Food, Cold Water Fish Food – whatever you may call it has one thing in common – Wheat Germ. A wheat germ based food for koi and goldfish has exceptional digestibility, especially at low temperatures. This is very important in colder climates where pond temperatures drop in the fall. Since koi and goldfish metabolisms slow down as the water temperature gets colder, so does their ability to digest the rich proteins often found in regular summer koi food. If the fish aren’t digesting their food well, then they aren’t getting the nutrition required to build up their stores of energy that they live off of during the winter months when they don’t eat. Plus, all the extra waste they are producing from improperly digested food is released in to the water at a time when the pond filters’ ammonia reducing activity is also greatly diminished.
Always use a thermometer to check the temperature of your pond in the spring and fall before feeding your fish. Feed a spring and fall fish food when water temperatures are between 48˚F/9˚C and 65˚F/18˚C.
We have several different brands of Spring and Fall Foods such as Profishent, Tetra and Aquascape, designed to feed your fish at colder temperatures.
