Pond Cleaning & Floating Fountain Installation - Bench Brewing

Pond cleaning Bench Brewing

Pond Specifications

This is a small retention pond that collects runoff from the parking lot at Bench Brewing in Beamsville. It has been beutifully finished with large armour stone boulders and adjacent flower beds. It is located right next to their Fieldstone Event Venue, so it is needs to look good.

It is approximately 50′ (15 m) long and averages 30′ (9 m) wide. The maximum depth of the pond is about 4′.

Client Concerns

Early last spring as the temperatures suddenly warmed up, an epic filamentous algae bloom occured As this pond is located in the company parking lot, and very close to their event venue, they needed a pond cleaning and a way to help prevent further blooms from occuring.

Because it is a fairly small pond, we were able to make this a 1 day job, removing the algae and installing a 1/4 HP Oase floating fountain to aerate the pond. we also supplied them with some pond treatments to help prevent further algae blooms.

We have worked with the owner Matt previously, on their large holding pond. The water used in their brewing process doesn’t go to waste; instead, it’s pumped over a kilometer to this holding pond and repurposed to nourish their onsite hops and adjacent apple orchard, ensuring that their impact on the environment is positive and productive. we installed a 4 diffuser aeration system to help increase oxygen levels and reduce odours in the pond. We also provided some beneficial bacteria for them to add to the pond biweekly, to help digest the organic matter as well.

Also, their Balls Falls Session IPA is a must try!
