Not just a regular Tancho Showa… You don’t want to know how rare a Tancho Showa is! Although it is a Tancho version of a largely bred variety, a high quality Tancho Showa is something unique. Seriously! At the moment that I had a rendez-vous on the last Dainichi Auction, a Tancho Showa that is not easy to forget!

Unfortunately I wasn’t present this Autumn to experience the Ikeage season; I was there last year though! Can you see any similarities between the Tancho Showa pictured above and below?

Now that I know that Tancho Showa are very rare and that a breeder like Dainichi only releases like 10-15 pieces of Jumbo tosai in the Spring, out of a total of 1500-2000 jumbo tosai, it makes it even more special to see a Tancho Showa of 6 years old and 78 centimeter of this quality! A beautifully shaped body, a very thick skin with a impressive lustre, a Sumi pattern that will most probably will need at least a year (maybe even two) to finish and then she will surely be in the competition to beomce Best in Variety Tancho on an All Japan Koi Show!
That is why it is such a great thing that I was able to have been taking care of this beauty and as a present even have been able to hold her in my hands during her Ikeage. Come on Tancho Showa, make your promise come true!
